The time has come: Announcing the fourth year of ELTS for TYPO3 Partners

With the 3rd year cycle of TYPO3 v9.5 ELTS coming to an end at the end of September 2024, the time has come to announce a significant change in our Extended Long Term Support (ELTS) service offering. Starting with v9.5 ELTS, TYPO3 Solution and Technology Partners will have access to an exclusive fourth year of ELTS. This permanent change will come into effect for all future TYPO3 ELTS versions. 

Previously, the focus was on highlighting the end of ELTS and the availability of the fourth year only in emergencies. Now, we are making a strategic move to ensure transparency and reliability. By providing an additional year of Extended Long Term Support, we enable end customers and agencies alike to keep websites secure and maintained for up to seven years for each major version.

One of TYPO3’s key benefits has always been the reliability of our roadmap and release schedule. End customers and solution providers alike rely on our announced release dates and support times for their project planning – even several years and versions in advance. 

In the past, the approach of providing a fourth year of ELTS at very short notice, although beneficial for website security, led to planning challenges and lost business opportunities for our agency partners. This created strain on resources, planning, and customer relationships.. We recognize the need for a more predictable and transparent approach that aligns with our values of trust, transparency, and collaboration. 

With this change, we are taking a transparent, streamlined and planned approach by integrating the additional fourth year into our TYPO3 Partner Program exclusively. The TYPO3 Partner Program was explicitly created to establish transparent and understandable rules. This in turn means that, starting with v9.5 at the end of September 2024, only TYPO3 Solution and TYPO3 Technology Partners will be able to access the additional ELTS year for their customers.

1. Prolonged Security: With up to seven years of support, TYPO3 websites will remain secure and compliant with the latest security standards. This longevity is crucial for long-term projects, especially those in industries with stringent security requirements.
2. Business Stability: The extended support period allows for smoother business operations and planning. Agencies can offer their clients a more robust and reliable service without the sudden need for upgrades or migrations.
3. Transparent Planning: By announcing this additional year well in advance and integrating it into the TYPO3 Partner Program, we are committed to providing a predictable and stable environment for your business operations.
