Reflecting on 2024: A Year of Milestones, Growth, and Community
As we look back on 2024, we celebrate a year filled with remarkable achievements, exciting events, and incredible growth for TYPO3. From structural improvements and ambitious new projects to global connections within the community, it’s been a year to remember (and one to lay the foundation to an exciting 2025 ahead). Let’s take a journey back to where it all started—January 1, 2024
The Launch of the TYPO3 Partner Program
The new TYPO3 Partner Program officially kicked off at the beginning of the year. We started with 24 early adopters on board and welcomed an additional 28 partners over the course of 2024, bringing our total to an impressive 52 partners worldwide.
This success was powered by genuine connection. Through our Partner Roundtables held at various agencies' offices, we discussed topics surrounding TYPO3 in person—a format we believe has unparalleled value compared to remote meetings. These exchanges strengthened relationships and added tremendous value for everyone involved. Additionally, we kept our partners informed and engaged by sending out exclusive partner newsletters every two weeks throughout the year.
Our Growing Team
This year, we also expanded the TYPO3 GmbH family, welcoming five new colleagues. One highlight was the growth of our communications team into an independent unit alongside our development teams. With their efforts, we were able to produce nine insightful podcast episodes, featuring brilliant guests like Janus Boye, Sebastian Bergmann, Fjora Hodo and Nadja Neb. These episodes provided deeper insight into the TYPO3 community. Additionally, we began an overhaul of several key landing pages on the typo3.com domain, redesigning pages to feature partner agencies and their successful case studies more prominently. This, along with our increased blog activity lead to more views and more engagement for TYPO3 partner agencies and the TYPO3 project. In 2025, we’re planning even more content for our diverse audience to continue driving TYPO3 forward.
Embarking on UK Adventures
January saw our first international trip of the year as we attended two key events in the United Kingdom: GovCamp UK and PHP UK Conference in London. These events sparked fantastic opportunities, and we’re excited to further grow TYPO3's presence in the UK in 2025. Talks are already underway for a TYPO3 Camp in the UK!
TYPO3 Surfcamp: A New Staple in our Event Calendar
A highlight of 2024 was the launch of our first TYPO3 Surfcamp—a thrilling one-week adventure designed for the next generation of TYPO3 enthusiasts! Held under the sun of Fuerteventura, Spain, the camp brought together a vibrant mix of participants from diverse backgrounds to learn, create, and connect and work on TYPO3 v13. We’re already looking forward to the next TYPO3 Surfcamp, set to take place in May 2025!
Two Major Community Milestones
TYPO3 Developer Days
In August, the TYPO3 Developer Days 2024 (T3DD24) took place for the third consecutive year in Karlsruhe. The event, themed around “Get Smarter for the Future”, featured informative talks from community members, engaging sessions, and a special highlight: a tattoo station! Attendees were able to get a (TYPO3-themed) tattoo on-site—even Association Board Member Stefan Busemann joined the fun and left with some ink.
TYPO3 Conference & Awards Gala
Later in the year, the TYPO3 Conference returned for its second consecutive edition in Düsseldorf. A central focus was the Government Site Builder 11powered by TYPO3, which was discussed extensively in collaboration with representatives from ITZBund and BMI. The event also marked the first-ever Public Sector Day, featuring an entire day dedicated to this sector and higher education. The next two days of the conference featured insightful keynotes covering a wide variety of important topics, ranging from accessibility, to technical innovations, AI, and the future of open source.
The conference concluded in style with the TYPO3 Awards Gala, where 16 standout TYPO3 projects and the best TYPO3 Camp were recognized with handcrafted awards produced in Düsseldorf. Special congratulations go to Benni Mack, our 2024 Personality of the Year!
A Year Packed with Events
From all 22 events we attended, a standout moment was our return to DMEXCO in Cologne, Germany, joined by eight TYPO3 partners. The event was such a success that we formed a partnership with DMEXCO, who also participated in T3CON24 as an event partner.

We also proudly attended all eight TYPO3 Camps, enjoying time with our passionate community. Congratulations to Vienna for winning the Best TYPO3 Camp Award 2024! The introduction of our surf simulator at these camps, a nod to TYPO3 v13’s “surf” theme, was an unforgettable addition.
Releases and Celebrations
April saw the release of TYPO3 v13.1, followed by the LTS release in October. The new version brings a lot of new features. The excitement of these milestones culminated in numerous release parties across the community.
Looking ahead, 2025 promises even greater adventures as we continue to build on the foundation we’ve laid in 2024. Thank you to everyone in the TYPO3 community for making this year so special—we can’t wait to see what’s next!
