A Strategic TYPO3 Relaunch to Strengthen Arvato’s Employer Identity

Arvato is a global leader in supply chain and logistics, delivering complex, tailored business solutions across multiple regions. Renowned for their customer-centric approach and deep industry expertise, Arvato is not only a trusted partner for clients but also a highly attractive employer in the logistics sector. 

In 2018, Arvato partnered with u+i interact GmbH to relaunch their TYPO3 website. u+i was the chosen partner due to their experience with TYPO3 CMS and their agile, efficient working style. 

Their partnership began with an initial request to refresh and update their existing website which  evolved into an ongoing collaboration across a wide range of projects. In 2023, Arvato required a major overhaul of their main website and their careers page. This project was awarded the prestigious 2023 TYPO3 Award in the Enterprise category. 

Speaking the Language of Talent: A Global Approach to Employer Branding

The relaunch was comprehensive, encompassing nine localized language versions to deliver an optimized user experience across markets. Leveraging the existing TYPO3 framework, the localization process became significantly more efficient and streamlined, thanks to TYPO3’s robust multilingual capabilities. 

The goals were clearly defined and mutually agreed upon by Arvato and u+i. With a six-month timeline to go live, close collaboration and open communication between both teams were essential to ensure timely success. Key objectives included a modernized visual design, a strong focus on employer branding to attract top talent, a high-performance system with integrated tracking and reporting capabilities, all built on a platform designed with accessibility at its core. 

Key Outcomes

Integrated Corporate Website & Career Portal

The main website and careers portal were combined into a single TYPO3 system with tailored workflows, creating a unified brand presence while streamlining content management.

Cohesive Employer-branding

A dedicated photo shoot and enhanced UX features more closely reflected Arvato’s brand identity, making the career portal more engaging and attractive for top talent.

Agile, Accessible Development

Efficient collaboration between Arvato and u+i enabled rapid iteration, early testing and a compliant platform designed for performance, tracking, and accessibility.

Multilingual by Design

The website was relaunched in nine localized languages, utilizing TYPO3’s powerful localization features, resulting in an enhanced, accessible global user experience.

Inclusive, Compliant Design with a Branded Voice

The initial phases of the relaunch began with u+i aligning with the Arvato stakeholder team. Together, they enhanced the interface’s professional look and feel, with a particular focus on appealing to an international target audience. The TYPO3 modules developed during this phase are not only reusable but also highly adaptable, ensuring long-term scalability for future needs. Content was created with everyone in mind, therefore accessibility concepts were developed comprehensively and within WCAG 2.2 AA criteria compliance. 

To create a modern, appealing portal that attracts top talent, Arvato stakeholders endorsed u+i’s concept for a photo shoot aligned with the company’s employer branding strategy. The photoshoot was designed to authentically reflect the company’s character and culture while reinforcing the newly implemented UX components. Leveraging TYPO’s rapid development capabilities, interim versions of the site were continuously reviewed, refined, and tested early in the process.

Cohesive Content and Approval Workflows

The two websites were enabled within one system, meaning the career portal was included in the relaunch track, creating a coherent view of future brand interaction and perception. Within this set up included a complex roles and rights system with different approval workflows. Due to a seamless working relationship, the analysis phase went off without a hitch. In this phase, u+i discovered the linguistically and regionally uniform business card and created a comprehensible presentation for the ease-of-use for the users in the backend. 

The candidate's journey is now trackable through this portal and the display of content for both interfaces (career portal + website). The career portal and main website operate within one system—the conception, testing and implementation must be fulfilled from a single source. 

On-Time Launch and a Growing Partnership

The websites successfully launched in September 2023, delivered on schedule within the six-month timeline. Through close collaboration, open communication, and an efficient working approach, u+i interact delivered a modernized TYPO3 website that aligns with employer branding and integrates streamlined workflows.

Beyond their successful go live, the relationship continues to grow between the two teams and is reflected in the continuous development of a shared vision. The website will continue to evolve through ongoing enhancements and future development.
