TYPO3 Conference 2018 - It’s a Wrap!
Thanks to Jam from OSP for sharing!
The 13th Annual TYPO3 Conference 2018 is a wrap! The weather was bright and crisp in Berlin, and the funky nhow Berlin hotel was a great venue. This event for the business side of the professional open source community around TYPO3 CMS offers insights into running an agency and harnessing technology for business opportunities. There was a good balance of talks both on the application of technical topics and agency craft.
If you weren’t able to attend in person, subscribe to TYPO3’s YouTube channel to see all the talks from Berlin. You can also find videos of many community events and conference sessions, and a regularly updated stream of technical how-to videos about TYPO3 and related topics.
Conference talks
The conference program this year included two tracks each day. For business and agency leaders, there were talks on how to scale your business, cut costs, and discover unique opportunities. For developers, there were demos, insights about the product roadmap, and practical advice on building solutions with TYPO3.
Having these streams together means that participants could connect the dots between business opportunities and the technology that makes it all possible.
Thanks to all the speakers who put so much of themselves into their talks and invested the time to share their professional knowledge and insights with the rest of us.
The “triple-keynote” from Benni Mack, Jörg Ems, and Mathias Schreiber was a great kick-off to the conference. They covered the state of TYPO3 CMS version 9, TYPO3 GmbH and the business ecosystem, and the future outlook for TYPO3—including an official integration to manage Google Ads directly in the TYPO3 CMS backend. Further highlights for me included, Google Penalties Explained. Understand, remove and avoid Google Spam actions. Explained by ex-Search Quality Googler and SEO expert Kaspar Szymanski, and Bynder: How an integrated digital ecosystem helps create content that works by KaraLynn Lewis, and Coders.Care - Service Level Agreements for TYPO3 extensions by Jo and Petra Hasenau.
Thank you, sponsors!
Many thanks to all the sponsors for making the conference possible, especially Platinum Sponsor +sitegeist and Silver Sponsors comwrap and languagewire. Extra shout out for the candy buffet provided by Mittwald. :-) These events are crucial for the health and growth of our open source communities. Without this kind of contribution—your generous sponsorship—these events wouldn’t be possible. Thank you!
Congrats to TYPO3 Award winners
The TYPO3 Award Gala on the first night of the conference gave us to catch up with each other and celebrate over dinner and drinks at the beautiful Admiralspalast. After another year of hard and creative work, it felt great to celebrate and congratulate colleagues and competitors for their hard work and creativity. The after-show party went on well into the night ...
My personal congratulations to Jochen Weiland, who was given the TYPO3 Association President’s Award for Community Contribution. Jochen is a veteran contributor who has been contributing and teaching others how to install and use TYPO3 since the earliest days of the community. You can still expect to find his consistently cheerful presence at any number of events during the year. Thank you for everything you do, Jochen!
Congrats to the TYPO3-certified!
Well done to everyone who took the chance to become TYPO3-certified at the conference in Berlin!
If you’re still on the fence about certification, it can help you gain a competitive advantage as a company or individual. You can get certified as a TYPO3 Editor (TCCE), Integrator (TCCI), Developer (TCCD), or Consultant (TCCC). Find out more about TYPO3 Certification.
Live TYPO3 certification exams take place at many community events during the year. Check the certification events page for upcoming opportunities.
