arsEdition Utilizes TYPO3’s digital marketing features to expand its online presence
A new web shop and improvement's to the website's SEO rankings were just some of the key outcomes of their upgrade to TYPO3 v11.5 LTS
German publishing company arsEdition, is an industry leader in the publishing of children's books, calendars, and stationary. The company, founded in 1896 has been part of the Swedish Bonnier Group since 2000, one of the largest media companies in the world.
Already running their website using TYPO3, in 2020 the company set a goal of increasing its online sales through its webshop. To do this, they partnered with 3m5. to revamp their website and improve their digital presence.
Updating TYPO3 Version and Marketing Enhancements
The project centered around two main requirements. First, the existing website had to be updated to a newer version of TYPO3. Additionally, the webshop was to be improved in order to provide visitors an enhanced user experience. One of the core challenges for the project was creating an online experience where users can browse, get inspired and choose suitable gifts for any occasion.
SEO and marketing improvements were also required, enabling the arsEdition website to become more visible in organic search results.
Data Management and Improved Website Performance
The implementation process of the project began with the TYPO3 version update, with the 3m5 team familiarizing themselves with the project’s code and updating the website to v11.5 LTS. As a next step, the team implemented Salesforce, allowing the arsEdition team to collect customer data. With this addition, the forms for newsletters, promotions, and competitions transmit gathered data through an interface to the Salesforce Sales Cloud.
Additionally, work was done to ensure that the arsEdition website was reaching performance standards and was SEO-optimized. This included optimizing the CSS and JS files, and fixing crawling errors and preventing duplicate content, to ensure that keyword cannibalization was not an issue.
A New Webshop and Improved Visitor Experience
There were two key outcomes that came as a result of this project. These were:
- Usability and Performance: Improved ease of use and a better user experience while navigating the website and specifically the webshop. This was in addition to the all-around performance improvements.
- Increased Revenue: The improved webshop, featuring its enhanced search functionality and SEO optimization, led to more sales and in turn increased revenue, realizing a key initial objective of the client.
Finally, the 3m5 team will continue to regularly update the arsEdition website, ensuring that key functionalities are kept up to date, allowing for improved long-term website performance and competitive levels of organic search visibility.
