Reflecting on a Successful Year: A Night of Emotion and Celebration at the TYPO3 Awards Gala

The 7th annual TYPO3 Awards Gala took place on Thursday, November 28, 2024 at the Areal Böhler venue in Düsseldorf, Germany. With over 200 attendees and submissions from 59 agencies, the evening celebrated a remarkable community, showcasing outstanding projects and honoring achievements across various categories.

The night kicked off with award hosts Emily Whigham and Matt Beadle who guided attendees through the evening with humor, interviews and a recap of the year’s TYPO3 highlights. The program was carefully designed to emphasize the unique aspects of the event including impressive transitions showcasing each award, an interview with a juror, and conversations with award recipients to delve deeper into their projects and client relationships.

Additionally, a special video was shown to spotlight the special attention that went into the creation of this year’s award. All of the materials were locally sourced and carefully crafted in close collaboration with the TYPO3 GmbH team, ensuring each award became a totem of excellence, with thoughtful attention to materials, colors, and categories to create a truly memorable tribute. Special Thanks to Martin Heck, Dipl. Accompanied by a video tribute and a heartwarming speech from TYPO3 GmbH CEO, Daniel Fau, the room was filled with emotion and gratitude for Benni’s role within the community.

An Inside Look at the Juror Process

This year, an interlude was added to the program which included the hosts of the evening interviewing a member of this year’s jury, Marc Thiele. Marc is a Düsseldorf native and the creator and organizer of the well-known Beyond Tellerrand conference. As a fairly newcomer to the TYPO3 world, Marc’s perspective was an interesting look into the role of a juror and the decision making process. He explained that the process is largely individual until the jury meets to share their results and deliberate. Multiple factors are evaluated across various categories to determine a winner, including ratings in usability, performance, SEO, accessbility, functionality, and design.
