LEONI Re-Launches its Global Web Framework with TYPO3
The leader in automotive services partnered with F7 to revitalize its digital infrastructure, utilizing TYPO3 multibrand and localization features.
A Leader in Manufacturing
LEONI Group is a leading provider of products and technology solutions for energy and data management in the automotive industry. One of the foremost companies in its industry, it employs 95,000 people across 36 countries.
As a global leader in manufacturing solutions within the automotive industry, it maintains a robots web presence featuring several localized websites catering to its core markets around the world. This need for a multilingual and multidomain web presence means that effective harmonization between different sites and a streamlined editorial process for content management are crucial to global operations.
In autumn of 2022, the company recognized the need to re-launch its website framework, as it was working with an outdated version of TYPO3 and Wordpress environments. The company chose TYPO3 Partner F7 Media GmbH to re-launch its global website framework featuring an agile working process, to ensure smooth operations well into the future.
Re-launching the Global Web Framework
LEONI sought the standardization of its various websites and a simplification of the editorial process, namely for content production ranging from press releases, news, and web content.
Additionally, effective access rights management was essential for ensuring the involvement of stakeholders from different teams across the organization. Finally, the HR team would require an expansion of the recruiting infrastructure to allow local teams to approach potential clients directly.
As a first phase in the re-launch process, a proof of concept would need to be developed to ensure that the deliverables met the customer’s requirements and could be expanded upon in the future.
Agile Implementation and Proof of Concept
The implementation phase included the active collaboration between the F7 and LEONI teams featuring two-week “scrum” style workshops, design and development, and testing phases. Ahead of each sprint, features and goals would be decided upon and after three sprints there was already a proof of concept system available that would allow the LEONI team to begin creating content in line with the new framework.
TYPO3 Multibrand Features and a Successful MVP
The current system, while an MVP version that will continue to be expanded upon, is a testament to the fact that the client sees the new framework as a workable solution that can continue to be built upon.
The new access rights, updated editorial features for streamlined content delivery across the brand’s multiple domains, and a new applicant tracking system to support human resources, have set the foundation for a powerful web infrastructure that will be the backbone of LEONI’s digital operations.
The agile workflow, featuring two-week scrum sessions, allowed for effective collaboration between client and partner, leading to a fast turnaround time and a workable MVP.
