Summary

Bibliomed is the leading publishing house for nurses and hospital managers in Germany. Combined, the print magazines and the web portals reach more than 1 million readers.

With the relaunch of www.bibliomedmanager.de and www.bibliomed-pflege.de three objectives had to be addressed: first, increasing the relevance within search engines, second, integration of third-party systems (CRM, email marketing software, publishing software, webshop etc.) and third, a fresh, new, responsive design.

The Project

Together with Bibliomed, schaffrath medien developed a new concept for these portals. Multiple workshops revealed the requirements: a multi-domain TYPO3 with many custom APIs, protected articles, a Solr Search integration and a fresh new responsive design had to be done. Due to the interfaces to third-party email marketing software and the existing publishing system, the editors’ workload was reduced to a minimum.
Furthermore, schaffrath medien implemented an Issue-Archive-Extension which allows publishers to organize articles within issues and sell them separately.
Based on the official SCRUM-Framework, the project was managed with agile methods. These methods allows the customer to react as fast as possible on changed market situation even if the project has already started. For more information about SCRUM, please visit www.scrumalliance.org.
