MaxServ Launches a Cutting-Edge, Efficient, and Secure TYPO3 Update for RKC Waalwijk

RKC Waalwijk, a prominent, professional Dutch football club, was operating on an outdated TYPO3 v9 installation and sought an agency to enhance their website's accessibility and user-friendliness. In combination with their website update, they wanted to partner with an agency who could not only revamp the interface, but also provide comprehensive user training for site management. 

For this update, they entrusted their longtime partner MaxServ B.V. with the task of updating their site to TYPO3 v12 to ensure a seamless experience for their fans and visitors. MaxServ was the perfect fit due to their expertise with TYPO3 development and their reputation as a strong, technical agency. Additionally, due to the complexities of the update, it was essential to prepare the integrations and infrastructure. Alongside this, a thorough checklist was formulated to ensure accuracy throughout the entire process. 

When MaxServ began their work on the club’s website in September 2023, they did so in a separate “branch” to ensure their upgrades would not interfere with the current project. The initial upgrade process was completed by an automated process and carried out by a shell script. Following this, MaxServ implemented extension upgrades including the Site Package, which is unique to each installation. They also utilized the TYPO3 Rector tool which greatly reduced the manual work as it focuses only on customized functionality or extension-specific adjustments. Each of the upgraded components were reviewed internally by MaxServ’s experts to guarantee the quality of the upgrade. 

TYPO3 was the selected CMS for this project due to the fact that it’s highly customizable and secure. With the need for regular updates, changes in schedules, team news and player information, MaxServ aimed to meet the growing demands of a top-performing football club. They did so by implementing relevant TYPO3 extensions that would provide a straightforward navigation for site editors to release pertinent information in a timely fashion. Additionally, they made the Yoast SEO extension compatible with the update to guarantee website optimization and assistance with writing high-quality SEO content for discoverability. 

The fully revamped RKC Waalwijk website launched in February 2024. With a highly-collaborative and knowledgeable team who excels in project management, MaxServ was able to perform an entire overhaul within six months, including the testing phase. Working together as a team, both MaxServ and RKC Waalwijk joined forces to create a refreshed and optimized TYPO3 platform for their loyal fanbase.
