HALTEC Hallensysteme GmbH (HALTEC), based in Germany with over 280 employees, has been delivering tailor-made hall systems since 1996. As a fully independent, owner-managed company, HALTEC has built more than 10,000 halls for clients ranging from local craftsmen to global corporations.
HALTEC operates in seven countries with 25 locations.
Challenge
The HALTEC website had become outdated from both a technical and user experience perspective. The engineering and customer service side of the business was thriving, however, their corporate representation on the website no longer reflected the innovation and scale of their services. They searched for an agency with the capability to relaunch their website with deep expertise in TYPO3 paired with a strong reputation and portfolio of highly customized enterprise solutions. HALTEC chose in2code GmbH for their strong alignment with these requirements, as well as their agile approach and transparent way of working.
HALTEC’s goals were clear: a modern, responsive, high-performance website that strengthened brand perception through contemporary design and an enhanced user experience. Editors required autonomy through a highly customized backend, while the website overall required improvements in usability with an emphasis on the mobile experience. Advanced filtering, search, and sharing functionalities were desired to simplify the user journey.
TYPO3 CMS was the right choice for HALTEC for several reasons. The project demanded enterprise-grade scalability, and TYPO3 delivered with a flexible, highly customizable backend architecture, native multilingual and multisite support, seamless integration with external APIs and systems, and built-in form management and user access controls.
Custom Backend Architecture
To meet HALTEC's diverse content needs, in2code designed a highly flexible backend structure in TYPO3. This was achieved by creating numerous custom fields that allowed for a wide range of content types, from simple text to complex design elements.
Vue.js Integration
To improve user interaction and experience, in2code implemented Vue.js, a JavaScript framework that allows for live list filtering. This means users can quickly filter content without needing to reload the entire page, making the website more responsive and seamless.Additionally, in2code added a "favourites" feature, which allows users to save and curate a list of preferred hall references. These curated lists can then be easily shared with others, adding a collaborative and personalized element to the user experience.
Dynamic Location Finder
To improve user support across Europe, in2code implemented an interactive map with postcode-based search functionality. This feature allows users to quickly and intuitively find the appropriate contact person for their region.Users can apply various filters to narrow down results and identify the most relevant contact. Once a suitable contact person is found, users can send an inquiry directly via a form that automatically routes the message to the correct regional office streamlining communication and enhancing the overall service experience.
Complex Form Management
HALTEC offers a wide range of hall systems, each requiring specific information to process inquiries efficiently. To manage this complexity, in2code used TYPO3-Forms to create a series of advanced, yet user-friendly contact forms tailored to each product line. These forms include a large number of dynamic fields and selection options to ensure that all relevant project details are captured. Despite their complexity, they remain intuitive and easy to use for visitors. All submitted data is routed through HALTEC’s custom-built inquiry interface and integrated directly into their internal systems ensuring fast, accurate handling of requests.
Seamless Job Portal Integration
To streamline recruitment, in2code integrated HALTEC’s external job listing system directly into the TYPO3 website. This allows the HR team to manage job postings in their familiar external environment while ensuring that all listings are automatically and reliably imported into TYPO3.
For website users, this creates a smooth, consistent experience without switching platforms. As a next step, in2code laid the groundwork for allowing applicants to submit their applications directly via customized TYPO3 forms further simplifying the application process and keeping everything in one place.
“With TYPO3, we have a powerful and flexible CMS that perfectly supports our complex product structure and international presence. The modular setup allows us to manage content for multiple hall systems efficiently while maintaining full control over design and multilingual content. TYPO3’s scalability and security make it the ideal solution for our long-term digital strategy.”
Outcome
The newly launched HALTEC website went live in March 2024. This project was performed in close collaboration with in2code, HALTEC and the design agency, claudiusbähr+friends. The process included regular planning workshops and sessions, based on SCRUM methodology, working in sprints and weekly reviews.
The result is a tailored TYPO3 backend, customized to HALTEC’s editors, streamlining workflows and enabling automated data exchange with third-party systems. Throughout the process, rigorous testing across devices and user scenarios was implemented ensuring the site performs reliably at scale, meets accessibility standards and a consistent user journey. High-fidelity design templates were translated by in2code’s team into pixel-perfect responsive frontend templates, ensuring a consistent experience across all devices.
More than a platform upgrade, the new HALTEC platform is now primed to enable digitalization across HALTEC’s 25 locations and creates the foundation for future sales initiatives such as the 3D Hall Configurator, supporting future growth and customer engagement.
