Gerresheimer AG is a Düsseldorf-based company specializing in high-quality packaging and drug delivery solutions for the pharmaceutical, healthcare, and biotech industries. The company is a publicly listed group and operates more than 40 production sites across Europe, Asia, and the Americas—combining state-of-the-art technology with strict hygiene and safety standards, bringing medications from manufacturing to patient use.
In 2025 the company sought to relaunch its website in an effort to future-proof its digital presence.
Challenge
Gerresheimer’s main objective was to create a modern, high-performance digital presence that reflected its brand values of innovation, precision, and quality. The company wanted a website that was easy to maintain, reducing editorial workload and backend complexity, while ensuring that the finished site would achieve high-standards for fast content delivery, security, up-to-date features, and support for international performance and availability.
Additionally, Gerresheimer wanted to deliver a human-centric experience to end users, with intuitive navigation and clear structures for external audiences such as customers, job seekers, and investors, being a key requirement for the project’s successful completion.
TYPO3 was chosen for the project due to its solid technical foundations for a website relaunch, its scalability, and future readiness. TYPO3 is ideally suited for complex content structures and large volumes of content elements without sacrificing performance, meaning fast load times, and reliability.
Works Performed
Working closely with their client at Gerresheimer, the agency team analyzed the website’s existing structures and content. This included over 50,000 content elements within an extensive and complex existing web infrastructure. The agency then consolidated and merged these content elements through automated migrations, reorganizing them into a clearer, more user-friendly, and easier-to-maintain architecture that significantly reduced editorial complexity.
Additionally, the agency handled the technical conception and implementation of a large-scale content migration across multiple languages, along with the integration of key systems and features including:
- API connection to SmartRecruiters for job listings and detail pages
- HubSpot integration for marketing automation
- A centralized location database, replacing multiple separate data sources
- Multi-file download functionality with ZIP integration
- Cloudflare proxy integration to improve performance and global availability
As a “focus project”, the relaunch followed a Scrum framework, with fast work, transparency, and effective coordination being key to its success.
Outcome
Through a combination of strategic planning, design system development, and technical engineering expertise. The agency delivered a relaunched website that delivered measurable results for Gerresheimer.
The significant reduction in editorial complexity and maintenance demands, along with the major improvements in usability and navigation meant that the impact of the relaunch was felt both internally, by the Gerresheimer team, and externally by their website visitors.
The successful delivery of the project also marked the beginning of a long-term relationship between agency and client, with ongoing technical maintenance, optimization, and continued development still taking place.
